MANITOULIN NORTHSHORE VICTIM SERVICES


Manitoulin Northshore Victim Services provides immediate crisis response, intervention

and prevention services which are responsive to the needs of individuals, families and communities affected by crime and tragic circumstances.


This full time, position will be required to work out of our Little Current office, as well as remotely when necessary. (Travel within all of Manitoulin Island and the Northshore)


Salary Range: $38 334 – $41 059 (commensurate with experience)


Position Requirements:

  • Education and/or experience in social services, social sciences, or a related field preferred.

  • Ability to respond to crisis situations with professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Demonstrates maturity, reliability, and a high standard of professionalism.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, including in a policing environment.

  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and working with sensitive information.

  • Administrative and office experience considered an asset.

  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database systems an asset.

  • Flexible and willing to work occasional evenings, as well as scheduled on-call weekend coverage.

  • Bilingualism (French/English) an asset.

  • Completion of 40-hour Victim Services training required and provided.

  • Criminal reference check, valid driver’s licence, and access to a vehicle required.


Primary Functions:

  • Provide crisis response and victim support, including on-scene and remote assistance, follow-up, and documentation.

  • Support coordination of crisis calls and volunteer response, including dispatch and communication.

  • Maintain accurate client records and ensure confidentiality in all interactions and documentation.

  • Contribute to administrative operations, including data entry, file maintenance, reports, and general office support.

  • Assist with program quality assurance, evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Support governance and organizational processes, including committee and Board related administrative tasks.

  • Engage in community outreach, education, and events, representing the organization in a professional manner.

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with volunteers, community partners, and emergency service personnel.

  • Participate in interagency meetings and community initiatives as required.


The successful candidate will require a thorough knowledge of social services and victim issues, in addition to relevant experience/education in assisting a volunteer team and crisis intervention work. This position requires a criminal reference check, a valid driver’s license, and access to a vehicle.
